Exploring the Emotional Framing in False and True Claims

AC-Oberseminar presents by Akram Sadat Hosseini on Tuesday (18.05.2021) at 15:45. Details of the talk are as follow:

Recent studies have shown that, in order to be persuasive and mislead audiences, false claims tend to exaggerate the facts, which could trigger high intensity emotions in their audiences. The purpose of my research is to understand how false claims are shaped from an emotional perspective. In this talk, I will present my research model that aims to investigate (1) the emotional intention of claims by considering domain and credibility of claims as parameters, (2) the effect of emotion in the content of claims in triggering emotional reactions on social media users, (3) and the influence of user's emotional reactions related to false and true claims on sharing information on social media. Furthermore, I will present my computational framework and at the end I will analyse results on 5 data set from different domains to provide an assessment of my research model and hypotheses.
