We congratulate our Institute’s Bo Xiong for his outstanding success in receiving the 2024 German-Swiss-Austrian Award for Best Dissertation. Bo received this award for his doctoral dissertation on "Geometric Relational Embeddings", supervised by Prof. Steffen Staab at the Institute for AI, University of Stuttgart.
Bo’s dissertation ranked first among 37 computer science dissertations of Faculty 5, and he was nominated by the University of Stuttgart for the GI-Dissertationspreis, which is jointly awarded by the German, Austrian, and Swiss Computer Science Societies. Nominated candidates from German, Austrian, and Swiss universities presented their work to the award committee at Schloss Dagstuhl – Leibniz-Zentrum für Informatik (LZI), and, eventually, Bo's thesis received the award due to the depth, breadth, and practical usefulness of his scientific results.
We wish Bo all the best in his next scientific chapter at Stanford University, where he is continuing his research as a postdoctoral scholar.
